Course Description
Whether you’ve dipped your toe in to start your first script, or you’ve never even seen one before, this introductory course will set you on the right path. Over 6-weeks, this course will lead you through the process of establishing a viable story for screen, completing the prep work, and starting to write your first feature screenplay. A seventh bonus session will be a one-on-one follow up zoom call with your instructor, to give even more dedicated attention to your script and your progress.
Work on your own story idea. Learn screenwriting terminology; develop your major dramatic question, log line and all the elements that will inform your writing; Develop memorable characters and plan their character arc; Learn about story structure, beat sheets, script formatting, and so much more. Learn to do it correctly from the start!

Classes are interactive. Apply what you learn to your own script and get feedback from your instructor. You will be a part of a private group on our website where you can watch the video replays, ask questions, get feedback on your homework, and interact with your classmates.
Your Instructor
Jaclyn Whitt
Jaclyn Whitt is a multi-award winning screenwriter in both short and long format, garnering 10 first-place awards in National and International screenwriting competitions. As a script consultant, screenwriters seek out her input during their editing process to strengthen their characters and storylines and tighten their scripts. Producers have sent other screenwriters to Jaclyn to help improve, focus, and re-write their screenplays. Her realistic dialogue, unique characters, and non-verbal communication within scripts have been frequently noted and praised. Jaclyn is an optioned writer with three feature films and a sitcom currently in pre-production.
